Homemade Halloween

Written a while ago... I need to get back into the habit of posting again now things are settling down a bit...

We've never really done Halloween before... mainly because to me it always seemed like a Hollywood/American celebration of nothing in particular other than to extort candy (that's sweets to us Brits) out of random people. We don't really like that kind of thing here.

This year, we have a wonderful Halloween Party to go to! I'm really enjoying being so involved with the Home Education community!

I considered buying costumes. Because honestly. I am so tired and time is tight. But I have so many materials here it would be a waste. So I am determined to make the girls Halloween costumes. And perhaps something for me and Isaac too. Who knows, Nick might need a costume if he doesn't get a job soon!

So Eve will be a witch (her choice, not mine!) Willow will be a cat (again, her choice)

Another thing that has swung it for me is looking into the origins of Halloween, or as it is called by pagans - Samhain. It's about the coming of winter and the death of the old year. Really interesting stuff!

So we went to one party, and I got reminded how gruesome and ghoulish Halloween is over here and how much I actually dislike observing it in the "traditional" sense. It gave me a bad feeling. We missed the HE party despite having costumes... Gorgeous costumes... Because everyone except me was sick, and continued to be sick all week. Yuck. But yay for my new lifestyle (more raw food via green smoothies especially and dairy free)

I'm still trying to figure out a good way of transferring photos from the iPhone to the iPad without synching (because that's ha work for me in t he current set up. I'm also struggling with bringing photos in from my picas album, so forgive the dump and run nature of this post. I'm getting far too irritated attempting to make it look good. The iPad may well look good and be user friendly if you just want to do basic stuff, but it's useless if i want to fiddle around and make stuff look half decent etc. Its really annoying me. I'm hoping this is just teething issues.

Hopefully I'll be able to get back in the habit of updating this. I really like looking back and seeing what we've all been up to, but it's difficult if I can't get all the technology working in harmony!
