First cut a strip of fabric about 80cm long and 10cm wide. Fleece is best because it repels water (or wee) and is really soft. Fold in half lengthwise and start sewing with about a 5mm allowance.

Closeup of my awful handstitching since the machine is out of action while I figure something out. I used a back stitch (I think that's what it's called!)

Turn the tube right side out ( this is the hardest most time consuming bit)

Insert elastic. I bought a load of this button hole elastic when I was pregnant so I could keep wearing my normal clothes. I thought this way the belt will be even more variable. I added a button to the fleece and attached the elastic, but you could simply see the two ends of elastic together. The easiest way of getting the elastic through the tube, I've found at least, is to attach it to a large safety pin and push it through like that.

Tuck it all in neatly and you're ready to go!

I'm using a 40cm Terry nappy here, but you can use anything... A prefold, cut up towel, booster, muslin cloth...

Awwww!

I'd love to hear your thoughts... however.... if you don't have anything nice to say, please don't say anything at all :)
