I keep remembering that I haven't posted for a while... then life takes over again.
It's been a really tough month. I feel like one of us has been sick or under the weather for at least this long... and it's getting better, but I think it's going to be a while before we're out and about again. Eve got "the lurgey" last week (as described by our GP) she'd had a night of wheezing, coughing and a high temperature that really worried me, but i tried to remember that the temperature was her bodys way of fighting off the infection.
I can't say I didn't cave and offer her calpol. I did. She wouldn't take it! She came to bed with us, and the next day the temperature was gone and I was exhausted from her waking me up in nightmares or just generally screaming in her sleep... I got quite cross at one point, I find it quite difficult to get back to sleep once I'm awake.
What really got me the next day was when the whites of her eyes turned red. Yes, the superficial things scared me I'm ashamed to say. I was worried that it might affect her eyesight, so we popped into see our GP. He saw us immediately as I'd called him for advice directly, which was extremely kind of him. I guess that I'm known as a "difficult" patient since I almost refused to take Willow in for her 2day checkup (completely unnecessary if you ask me) and also they know I don't take my kids in willy-nilly for daft things.
He checked her chest, ears, throat and eyes... didn't even seem vaguely concerned about her eyes... lol. Told us to keep her dosed up with paracetamol and ibruprofen (ha) and gave us some eye drops (which we didn't use since I figured there was no infection) THEN he gave both girls a lollypop for being so good. Or words to that effect. I bit my lip and got out of there asap. I may write a nice letter suggesting he invest in some stickers or something similar and perhaps try to attach some information on how sugar can feed infection etc. I'm pretty sure they'll just chalk it up to me being "alternative" or whatever.
This is the first time Eve has really been ill since weaning. It was so hard. She has never been so sick. I have never felt so helpless. Even when she had chickenpox, that was nothing compared to this.
Crafting is going well, finishing lots of projects. Managing to keep track of everything very nicely on ravelry, so much easier now I've got Nicks iphone during the daytime.
Looking forward to having my parents and little sister here for Christmas lunch and feeling a little excited about planning it all.
Think I'll leave it there as it's just gone bedtime and I'll be needing the sleep... I'll be needing all my energy to persuade Eve to leave the house for a short walk tomorrow. Seriously hard work at the moment. She's so intense.

I'd love to hear your thoughts... however.... if you don't have anything nice to say, please don't say anything at all :)
