It's not been much fun living here the last week or so. You can tell that by the lack of uploaded photos in this post. I have tons of them on the camera waiting, but when I feel the way I do now, they never get uploaded. It seems like too much.
So my list of crazy stuff this week....
Eve got her finger trapped in the door. Actually it was her thumb, her sucking thumb. Not good. She's using the other one still, so it must still be hurting her. It was the hardest thing ever to get her to let me take the plaster off and wash it. Poor kid.
Willow got stung by a wasp. There's a wasp nest on the other side of our neighbours fence at the bottom of the garden. We're getting a lot of wasps around the house, and it's driving us all a bit insane. Nick is great at swatting them though. Anyway, this one wasp took an interest in her yoghurt pot, and being that she's an inquistive little thing, she picked it up. So it stung her thumb! Thankfully Grandma was around and took it out with a flat knife really quickly, horrible thing was still pulsing the poison into her :( Of course, in true Willow fashion, she would not feed for comfort... she would go as if to latch, then pull away with an utterly outraged expression, as if I'd done something entirely dastardly. Walking around the garden is the only thing to soothe her in these situations it seems, and we went and picked some blackberrie from the plant at the end of the garden... which I've been trying to avoid. lol. Another surprising thing was the fact that my animal loving little sister was quite happy to take the horrible waspie outside and stomp on it. This is the kid who screamed blue murder at me once for pouring salt on a slug!!!
We're still dealing with the thrush. I went to the doctor yesterday, and he prescribed some Nystatin for Willow, and some canesten cream for me, but he also said something that I hadn't thought of... he suggested using Kamillosan inbetween the times I could use the Canesten. Slowly my brain ticked over the the fact that it had chamomile in it, and chamomile is meant to be good for thrush.... ooooh, we'll try that as one last ditch attempt to try and sort this naturally-ish... it'll be easier than having to wash the Canesten steroidal cream off at each feed and having Willow screaming at me that she wants it NOW.
I think we all have tonsilitus. This could account for the utter grumpiness going on, and the fact that the thrush is taking so long to get gone. I know we all had cold-like symptoms over the weekend, but mine is definately tonsilitus now, my throat is soooo sore, and I have to stinky breath... yuck.
The weather is ridiculous. I mean, it's typical English Summer weather. Nothing unusual. Just incredibly frustrating. You'll wake up in the morning and it'll be all clear and blue skies, so you'll prepare for a lovely warm day. Then what? by 9-10am it'll be overcast and threatening rain. Gah. I put washing out! Then of course it'll change its mind several times, and you'll not know whether you're coming or going. Of course there will be the complete reverse of this where it will be grotty looking in the morning, and then gorgeous by 10am, so after settling in for a miserable day, you'll have to build up the motivation and will to force 2 smalls out the door for some lovely fresh air, which you might not be able to get for a while again...
On the other hand, I've had some lovely times in the week. Mum took me out shopping and we popped into some charity shops. We spotted some great stuff. Most notably a pasta maker, which we got at the bargain price of £5!! I thought mum was pointing it out for me, but it turns out she wanted it for herself, so we had a little umm dicussion, and we're sharing it. But I have it for now, and possession is 9/10ths of the law. ha. Nah, I'll share nicely. Promise.
Also found a self inflating mattress for camping, a nice knitted top for me, and a tablecloth, which I've been wanting for a while.
Carolyn popped round yesterday too, and dropped off a gorgeous piece of baby gear... a tiny knitted alpaca cardigan. It looked soooo tiny, and I had to hold off saying, "oh, it's okay if it doesn't fit the baby it will fit a doll".... so to reassure us both I went and got a baby vest from upstairs to compare against, and it's PERFECT. It's always nice to have something that FITS rather than things to grow into.
I will sincerely try my best to upload photos next time... or you might have to put up with another wordy post again next time.
